Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada Short Review

Simbu in Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada

I don’t recall another movie in recent past whose graph goes as downhill as Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada from the first half to second half. The first hour of the movie is delightful. It reminds you of Vinnaithandi Varuvaya and has moments that bring you smile. Especially the scene where Simbu gets rid of his friend to let Manjima join him on the road trip is terrific. There are as many as 5 songs but who would complain as long as they are composed by A.R Rahman and well picturized by Gautam Menon.

But the second half goes completely awry. The movie shifts gears from romance to an action thriller. Some villains appear from nowhere. People keep shooting, running, chasing, chasing , running, shooting in no specific order. Simbu’s sincere performance is the only solace you may find in the second half. Manjima’s character tells initially that she aspires to be a script writer in Cinema. I was hoping in the climax, she would reveal the second half was all part of one “bad” script that she just wrote !

Achcham Yenbadhu Madamaiyada is a huge disappointment. If you are a Gautam Menon fan and still want to watch the movie, do yourself a favor- Watch the first half and exit the cinema halls at interval !
